What iPhone doesn't have !

iPhone has become revolution in phone world. The demand seems to be increasing with each passing day. And as every buyer would proudly wink and declare his iPhone status, the have nots will recoil and steel their resolve to acquire one. By now you would surely remember by heart what the iPhone has.But wait, do you also know what it does not have?We bring you a list of features that tells you what even the iconic iPhone doesn't have.......
  • However, the new iPhone offers nothing new in terms of looks. The 3G iPhone looks pretty much like its predecessors.
  • However, 3G iPhone disappoints with the same 2 megapixel camera and no video recording option and flash and optical zoom too missing.
  • Another sorely missed out features are multimedia messaging and voice dialing.
  • User replaceable battery and tactile feedback for the touchscreen, both have been given a miss in the new iPhone
  • Users were expecting a landscape keyboard, capability to cut and paste, expanded memory and additional Bluetooth profiles - which all too is missing.
  • There is no support for Adobe Flash in 3G iPhone.
  • This may be hard to digest. BlackBerry has it, Nokia has it, however, 3G iPhone lacks it.

Apple's iPhone 3G: Is it for you?

Apple products have always had an unusual charm to them. A lot of sophistication, elegance and refined taste ago into creating an Apple product during its design phase.Even though I'm far from being a big Apple fan, their products tend to leave a lasting impression.

This article revolves around the widely hyped iPhone, set to be launched in India by Vodafone and Bharti Airtel sometime later this year. There weren't too many iPhone competitors out there in 2007; at least not in the indian market but there were some available in international markets linke LG Prada,BlackBox, Meizu M8,Samsung F700 to name a few worthy competitors initially. However, you won't find any of the above mentioned so easily with legal retailers.

The HTC Touch Diamond, Samsung Omnia i900, Nokia E71 are the latest alternatives to the iPhone. Remember, these are handsets that offer a different solution and are not clones of the iPhone. The reason behind the usage of the term 'alternative' lies in the OS. Construction, aesthetics, connectivity, hardaware, etc are some of the differences that influence our choice. Manufactures in an effort to tackle competition, try to level the playing field by replicating the competing models' specifications.

This article aims at highlighting the key features of the iPhone while comparing it to similar alternative solutions using a different OS. The OS is the key feature that creates a different user experience and smart buyers pay attention to this feature because switching from one OS to another's not an easy task especially when you need to familiarize yourselves in order to unlock the handset's full potential.

So let's begin our journey into what the Apple iPhone is all about and which other phones can provide a similar experience.

3G iPhone's Asian party poopers!

The iPhone 3G, which Apple is billing as twice as fast and half as expensive as the debut model, will roll out in cities from Tokyo to Sydney coming Friday. The company is betting the new phone's third generation (3G) capabilities, such as faster Internet access and file transfer, will make the phone a hit. Like the first version, the new model also has an iPod built in.

However, will the 3G iPhone be as successful in Asia as it has been in US and Europe? According to analysts, the new iPhone faces several challenges in Asia that it will not have elsewhere.

Here's looking into what all may spoil Apple's party in Asia.

Can Nokia N78 3G replace the trusted N73 or N82?

Nokia recently launched the N78 smartphone aimed as an alternative to the already available successor of the N73, the N82. There has been a lot of confusion when it came to naming the true successor of the N73 ever since the announcement of the N78.

A successor to any aging and existing model has to perform better and offer more features. November 2007 saw the launch of the N82 which proved itself worthy as an N73 successor albeit at a slightly higher price.

Nokia has positioned the N78 in a similar way when the N73 took off in late 2006. Question is, does the N78 really have what it takes to replace the N73?

Under the hood, we have a 369Mhz Texas Instruments OMAP ARM11 processor with 96 MB of RAM running on an updated S60 3rd edition Symbian OS (rel 3.2) and with 76MB of usable storage ROM. This results in performance on par with the N82 when running resource hungry apps. Preinstalled along with the OS is the new Feature Pack 2, which is a first for an S60 smartphone. Visual enhancements such as extra GUI menu animations and customisable active stand-by screen layouts not only present an enormous amount of eye-candy but are also a treat, creating favourite applications shortcuts for easier navigation. You can customise menus with four view modes:

  • Standard mode 1
  • tandard mode 2
  • -Shaped mode
  • orseshoe mode

FP2 adds a new feature called Geo-Tracking which allows you to add geographical co-ordinates to photos. Overall, FP2 improves visuals and provides more fluid animations while ensuring performance does not take a hit. There are 4 preinstalled themes available:

  • Nseries 1
  • series 2
  • series 3
  • aze

You have the usual option of downloading and installing even more. Customisation is the highlight of all the recently released Nseries models. It even has a built-in speaker and an independent voice recognition system that can recognise a large bevy of user commands.
